Jimmy Chungs Review – Aberdeen

[ad#ad-2-top]

A group of 7 of us went to a (holiday) Monday buffet lunch at Jimmy Chungs in Aberdeen, on Union Street. We arrived at noon, to a moderately busy restaurant, and headed for the buffet. The buffet wasn’t too large, but perhaps I’m comparing it to some Chinese buffets in London Ontario which really go all out.

For a vegetarian, there is very little choice. There were two soups, but both had meat. There were wonderful spring rolls though, and very un-Chinese onion rings and chips – though they seem to be standard at Chinese buffets. From the hot, ‘mains’ section, there was a stir fried vegetable, a noodle dish, and vegetable steamed rice. There was a battered & fried banana which was quite tasty as well. On their website they say they will make vegetarian dishes if asked. I did ask one of the employees if the Singapore noodles were vegetarian, and her only response to me was ‘no, only those noodles’. There were no signs elsewhere indicating they would make dishes especially for vegetarians either. I didn’t test their claim online as I was with a large group, and they had already started eating.

The service was very fast and friendly however. And given it was only 5.49 pounds for an all-you-can-eat buffet, I wasn’t horribly disappointed.
